How many people use this wonderful tool?

File Hippo (http://www.filehippo.com/) is a gaint databse of downloads for useful prgrams. Most are small freeware programs like CCleaner that can do great things for your computer. They released an update checker tool to help you stay updated, and today I gave it a try. I must say im higly impressed. It even found graphic drivers I needed to update to (I was on version 4, current is 8 lol) and it found updates for alot of my other programs as well. It also displays beta updates at the bottom that you can use, although you dont have to. Its worth it to run it once a week or so.

I used to run this, although soon found it to be very annoying. Each time I logged in it would constantly remind me of small insignificant updates like a new driver for my printer that already works fine, and Java updates.

Having said that, i'm the kind of person who goes by the "If it already works, don't bother updating" policy. On the other hand, if you're one of those who likes to keep a squeaky-clean computer with all the stuff up to date, I'd definitely recommend it ~smile~

I can say theyve added more support to the current version, during install you can chose when it reminds you of new updates. I have it set to never remind me, I like to check manually. I like to keep my stuff up to date due to the security risks these days. I know im waaay over protective of my computer and the software, but ive seen what can happen,a nd I prefer to be better safe than sorry lol.

I set aside every sunday to just run virus/spyware scans and general tuneups. I usually defrag both drives, and sometimes my phones memory if I have time. It just keeps things running faster and all around better during the week.
