I'm teaching myself to use cPanel/File Manager, but for some reason when I enter FM, none of the buttons fulfil their action. I click the button, but nothing happens, like when I want to upload a file for instance.

Help!

If not an issue with the host, it maybe a browser issue or issue with a browser extension/plugin maybe.

I tried with both Chrome and IE and still nothing. I'm trying to contact the host.

The new cPanel file manager uses Java to work. Make sure your Java install is up to date or use the old file manager. There is a link to the old one right next to the new one in your cPanel.

I updated it, still nothing.

You may be best off using the old file manager. I used to have problems with the new manager on one of my old hosts and they could not figure out what the problem was as I was the only one having the issue. Another time updating Java fixed it. I guess that it is a random issue that happens from time to time.

I would also highly recommend using an FTP program such as FileZilla instead of the cPanel file manager. FTP clients are generally easier to use in terms of file edits and such.

You should see a box like this somewhere in you cPanel:

vUmM

"Legacy File Manager" is the old version that does not use dynamic scripting.
