Christmas is a time of year where many struggle financially as they don’t want to disappoint family, children etc but it is also typically a time of year when bills are highest!

What do you do to try and prepare financially for Christmas each year?

I don't stress over Christmas. I have a few friends/family I'll get gifts, but it's no big deal if you can't afford them!

Make a conscious effort not to even think about it until a week or two before the event.

Personally I could do without it and to be honest a lot of my family and friends feel the same. I think having it rammed down your throat for 2+ months before the event puts a lot of people off.

Financially speaking, I don't do anything special to prepare for it. I'm terrible about purchasing gifts though. I always wait until the last few days, thus I miss out on all the deals.

I'm the exact same way to be honest. I wait until very last minute, and then I am like oh - I still need to buy these. lol

I have, traditionally, gone overboard at Christmas. The pressure to ensure your kids get the same as others is high for a lot of parents. This year I shall remain within my means.

I always try to reuse things, especially for decorations. I also do not use all gifts I receive, I keep them safe for another season to gift to other people This saves me a lot of money

Every year I look at my funds and go, OMG, that time of year when I end up having to spend things in a good way and then wish that I didn't spend too much afterwards.

I mean you can buy good things for loved ones without having to break your wallet 😉

But if you get ready in advance then when December madness comes you not have to worry if you already got your things

Personally, I give everyone a papier-mâché creation every year.

Well, I only have myself to blame. I should have saved money and found out ahead of time of a business slowdown.

I LMAO at this @Nomad LOLZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ

I just try to not go overboard with the gifts I buy. I only buy gifts for my wife and she buys gifts for her parents and me. It helps to not have children and a cat instead. xD But I get not everyone wants to be childfree, it's best to either buy gifts early to help budget out your funds better or to set a budget on gifts and don't go over the limit. Also look for good deals throughout the year, items can get marked down quite low when it's not around a Holiday but then marked back up and listed as a "sale price" to trick people into thinking they're saving money.

I think it’s hard as nobody wants to disappoint anyone. There is also the ‘social’ pressure aspect of it that comes nowadays too with people posting pictures of crazy piles of gifts or mega expensive gifts.

I just do not buy xmas gifts lol... I gave up on that ages ago once my kids were grown up and adults. I send my grandkids stuff through the year so we don't over focus on just xmas.
