Fire Tutorial on GIMP

I created this tutorial over two years ago, so sorry if it's not too up to date.

1. First, open up a new canvas of about:


2. Now use the gradient 'Incandescent' and swipe it across the canvas like this:


3. You should now get something like:


4. Now, click on this:


5. Now, click on the picture on the top left and make some spikes, once you've got the hang of it, click reset and make the spikes. It should look like:


6. Now, change the options to this, and play with it until you get something like:


7. Now change the options to this, and just flick the edges of the swirls until it looks like:


8. Well done! You have now made fire without a plugin! I bet you feel good.

i remember making a blue fire by the same method. it is real good 🙂

It's not bad, but I would have preferred a different way, probably. I could make a tut on blue fire... Maybe. 😛

Well if you can than it would be good for a lot of people 🙂

i did the tut a long time ago and now i prefer going the hard way through smudging as it gives much clarity and feel of flames.

Color Balance would be much effective 😉 though i did it by using a ice gradient instead of yellow one. 😛

Well I am equally good at three softwares 😛 Photoshop, Arcsoft Photostudio, & GIMP

I got classes for photoshop and other two are self learned 😛
