Firefox 6 is out.

I am using it right now Cloverfield, and it is way faster than it used to be. Big difference. I switch to Opera because it loaded so much faster, and now they are close to even. It is definitely worth upgrading.

I've been using the beta version for quite a while and it's very good.

At this rate, there will be a FireFox 24 by next year. -.- So many releases.

I updated earlier today...I've noticed a very few small changes, but I'm really getting irritated by Firefox's new version scheme. To me, full numbered releases should be reserved for major changes - 6 really should have been no more than 4.3 or something.

Looking forward to the performance and memory enhancements in 7 though.

I noticed that, oddly enough. I went to view a Michael W. Smith video on YouTube that I swear I am hooked on that particular song, and the first thing I got was a popup asking me if I wanted to update. Is it worth updating when you only use a browser for something small like viewing YouTube videos? I only use FF when I want to post on a forum but it doesn't look right on Google Chrome, and that doesn't happen very often, because these days sites are good at catering to most modern day Web browsers.

Well I want to upgrade but my most important plugin Firebug isn't compatible yet so I will have to wait 🙁

The fixes for memory issues are what I want to see the most.

I thought they hadn't even come out with a full version of 5 yet. And 5 didn't seem to have any major changes to it from 4. Which 4 only had a few CSS3 things from 3. They seem to be making less and less with every major version.

I think that is the best point right there. Nothing major has changed and we are still waiting on the memory issue. Not to mention, I am not one for toolbars however I do(did) like google's and it hasn't worked since I upgraded to 5.

I've had what will be called Firefox 7 (I suppose they will call it that) for a few days now and it runs a lot faster and uses less CPU.

I find it weird how they are using the major version numbers to improve system resource but my question is why not do all the fixes at once and release a version that has all the issues, all the issues you can get out, fixed but I don't know maybe they have a reason or maybe they want to catch up to IE and Opera in version numbers XD

Because Firefox 6 sounds newsworthy, while Firefox 5.01e does not.

I had this huge problem with Firefox 5 that it ate all my free RAM and it was very slow, but so far, with FF6, no problems with that.
And the speed is really noticeable.
Also noticed that it focuses on the main domain (domain is black, other URL parts are grey), like Opera. I think that is a new feature with FF6, am I right?

Yeah that is a new feature of FF6. Chrome also already had that feature also along with IE9 (i think).
