Re: Flipping Websites?

Website flipping is the art of buying, improving and selling websites.

Re: Flipping Websites?

You obviously needsome type of expendable budget which you don't mind losing. Consider a cheap reseller account so you can sell off websites without affecting your own main account. Look for cheap, decent domains or big sales with discounted domains, and look to see how it can be profitable. Pobably avoid the PLR article Wordpress sites as they are easy to make. Sometimes it's impulse buying and sometimes it's calculated buying, but you're looking for te best value for money. Web development skills is useful, so you don't need to spend extra on the comstruction of the website. But it really depends on what you see as profitable.

Re: Flipping Websites?

Thanks for that useful post David, but I'm mainly going into forum flipping. I know my stuff when it comes to forums but I just have one issue, where can I sell these forums at for top dollar? And what is a good post range to sell the forums at?

You'll struggle with flipping unless you have some private buyers that are prepared to pay decent prices for sites. Sites go for ridiculously cheap rates on Flippa and similar sites; I'd rather keep all of mine than for what they go for on there!

I think you need to have decent advertising, affiliate, and product sales revenue before most people want to buy your website unless it is very unique and popular like Facebook which is not an easy task to achieve. I read somewhere a site that makes $5000 a year via Adsense, Adbrite, private ads, and other earnings can sell for $10,000 or more online.

Many people who buy sites are mainly interested in a site for "making money online".

I rather just keep the site myself since I'm not too thrilled about people using and profiting from content I written on a site I no longer own because I sold it to some stranger unless the stranger just want the website template, and domain name, and I can just move all my content I written onto my new website while he just gets the domain, and the website template.

I would love to get into this as well. Considering it would help me learn more about coding and design.

Uhmmm I went to https://flippa.com/ and it seems they are going for great prices..

I am seeing bids of 4000$ <.<.
Because they are worth that much. There are hundreds of things they consider, and not only on face value. Domain name, age, TRAFFIC, posts/members, activity, potential and so on.

Revenue and traffic are the two things I look for when purchasing a site of any description, then what potential I believe that site has.

Yes I know that,I was replying to someone who said they are selling cheap. 4000$ isn't cheap if you ask me  .

If this is something you really want to do, my tip would be to get started right now. Look at various sites and forums for sale. Pick one that you feel you could improve upon, buy it, make the improvements and then try and sell it for as much as possible. It's by actually making a start and doing it that you will learn.

Good luck with it!

I don't do this as a 'hobby' perse, but I do usually sell all of my websites on Digital Point and it is very much worth it.
