I'm sure we've all come across forums that enforce some sort of flood control, so I have a few questions I would like to ask everyone here on FP.

What are your thoughts on flood control? Are you a fan? Do you think it's necessary on most forums? Does it turn you off from posting if you constantly run into a flood control message?

I really don't think it's necessary for posts unless it's a colossal forum, where moderation can't be so prompt in responding to spam.

never heard of it, i dont really post on forums but here and another place

Flood control is really necessary to stop spam on forums. I have never run with flood control on any of the forums that I am registered with, but would prefer this service on all forums.

I don't think it would be bad if we were still on dial-up internet, but having to wait 15-20 seconds with every new page load...it's driving me nuts! xD
Though if there was a problem with spam in the past I can certainly understand the need for it here.

Since my forum provider requires at least a minimum, I've set it to the lowest it can be set to on my forums. I haven't had any issues with spammers though. Have bots registered? Yes, but I've found and took care of them before they even posted. 🙂

I haven't run into flood control on forums yet, at least not myself, but I did run into flood control on my friends TeamSpeak server. I was trolling him and kept disconnecting and connecting back. Eventually I was not able to join because of the flood control. It is a nice thing, for sure. In case moderators or admins are not around and you might not have bots to take care over your forum, flood control would surely be a good option to have.
