I learned of this while on Xenforo forums. I don’t recall Proboards having this option, not that I know of anyways. Does anybody know?
From what I gathered, owners can set it so people don’t post so often. Say, they need to wait 1 to 2 minutes.
Do you use it on your forum? What is it set at? Is it helpful or a hindrance to your members? What are the benefits?

I use SMF forum software, I have never checked if this software has this option. However, I have seen this feature enabled on some forums, not just posting time some forums even have minimum word requirements on the posts. I think this is a good way to control spam.

Maybe I should check if they have added this feature. I don't need this feature now maybe I will need in the future.

I personally wouldn't do flood control. I would just put on the guidelines, NO SPAMMING. Most members know not to do this anyway.

I have a group called Semi-New with flood control on for 30 secs 😉 group to see if they are not going to be trouble makers and once they made 5 good content they automatic get t me full members with no floods

If MyBB has it, I don't have it set to anything. If someone is able to post quickly, I don't take issue with that unless they're just spamming, but flood control isn't going to stop that anyway.

This setting is usually on by default on Xenforo and I usually forget about it until someone on my forum who is posting quite frequently mentions it as it's usually set to 30 seconds by default. I usually turn it off as I feel it can be annoying and will only turn it on if I am having an issue with spam accounts.

It's pretty much useless nowadays. I always turn it off.

I only have flood control on my board set to 10 seconds so spammers may get annoyed if they try to post a plethora of spam posts every few seconds.

If I go to a forum and they have this set up I leave, why would I want to wait 136 seconds before I could post again, I came to the forum to post.
