Hello everyone.

I'd like to introduce you all to Fortree Forums. We're a fairly new Pokemon Fan Forum based on Fortree City from Pokemon 3rd gen games.

We've plenty of tree houses at the moment so why not head over and sign up?

We have a couple of cool contests running too at the moment, one of them is our Summer Snowberry Art Contest, the winner will win a copy of New Pokemon Snap on Switch.

We have plenty of other cool features like loads of badges you can collect by performing various tasks on the site, the ability to change your username effect, customizable profiles and postbits and we've even recently introduced the ability to set up your own Graphics or Profile store which will allow users to request signatures or profile skins from you in exchange for site points

We're a close tight knit community who are looking to welcome other fans of Pokemon. Pokemon not your thing? That's okay, we've plenty of people discussing all sorts of topics, from games on Steam to the latest thing they just ate. 😀

I'm typically not a fan of seeing the .xyz domain extension, but I think you're rocking it. You even make the XYZ look cool in your advertisement banner. It's also great to see a forum running SMF. We don't see that too much around here.

Thanks a lot Cam! The .xyz thing was the head admins idea as one of the Pokemon generations is X/Y/Z, I think it was pretty clever of him (though we've since decided to focus on the retro gens instead)

I love SMF, but it's still behind in a number of ways. There's STILL no spoiler bbcode by default, I remember that being a problem back in '08 lol. But being open-source it's super easy to work with.

We're recently migrated from SMF to Xenforo, and on top of this we've just hit over 500 threads and getting very close to 3000 posts 😀

(gotta say part of me does really miss SMF, but the modern niceties of Xen are too good to pass up)

Been a while since I've posted here, and Fortree Forums is doing better than ever! We had our first birthday in May and launched a new theme to celebrate:



There have been several other improvements over the months as well:

• Shoutbox has been upgraded into a feature rich chatroom
• Users can now select frames for their avatar
• Username, postbit & profile styling have been given dedicated settings panels, offer way more options than before and allow users who don't know any CSS to easily change the appearance of their relevant settings
• Custom title styling is available and shares almost all the same options as username styling
• Users can now create their own social groups and start sub-communities
• The social groups addon has been extended to allow group owners to style the appearance of their group, like in the screenshot below

Lastly, we've set up a new currency called "Poke Dollars" which can be sent to myself in exchange for $5 and $10 paypal gifts. Everyones Poke Dollar count resets to 0 weekly, meaning that the idea is to allow those who regularly post & contribute to the site to get paid for doing so - posting once every couple of months and trying to build up Poke Dollars that way won't work.

I might look into a way to let users choose what size they want all avatars in posts to display as, I don't think it'd be difficult but it's not a massive priority right now.

Thought I'd share a Pokedex I've been working on, which is powered by the Pokemon Showdown API.
Only thing I've not gotten working properly is the filter bar, but the search bar works (and has auto-complete!) and posts made within the Pokemon boards which contain the name of a Pokemon will be auto-parsed with special BBcode which can generate a preview when hovered.
