ok, so I used to have a forum. I must have advertised it at at least 20 forum promotion sites, I don't think I got one person to join that way. I am thinking of making a new one but I don't want the same thing to happen, are their any tips on how to get people to join?

Make sure that your forum looks appealing... If no one is joining then it is probably down to one of 2things. 1) The forum subject doesn't appeal to many people or 2) The forum doesn't look appealing.

Also, just because you advertise your forum once on a promotion forum doesn't mean anything. Stick with that promotion forum for a long while so members will take you serious there, and they'd probably would be interested in you, your style, ad our forum in general. Get active in exchanges everyday, and whenever it's time to order a new package, then order the largest one you can afford. Get a review for your forum as well to tell what you are missing in your forum to have potential and appealing. Just don't give up. It makes no sense to just start something, go 75% of the way through it, and then just trash the whole idea in the very end. The same thing will happen if you get another forum; you'll go 75% of the way, give up, and trash it. Stick to with your current forum. However, it's pretty cool to have more than one forum. Why not you just keep the one you have already, and promote it on several promotion forums- then get another one you want and promote ot on the other promotion forums. On some promotion forums, you can just advertise both. Plus, members don't come to promotion forums just to look around at cool sites; they come to advertise- just like you do and everyone else as well. Users come to get their forum promoted, but just presenting the forum in the Forum Presentations, then leaving isn't gonna cut you out. Like I stated before, become active in community services such as exchangements, affiliations, packages, etc., and try your best to submit your forum into many free directory submittion sites that you can; if you do that every single day, you'll definitely promote better.
By the way, if you don't have any topics or posts that guests and registering members would like to reply to, then there isn't no sense into them joining. Could I see the link to your forum to understand what's going on?
Thanks!

I'd read this. viewtopic.php?f=22&t=20551

It's very crucial info. Making one ad post, and leaving will do nothing for your forum, guaranteed. You have to get involved with the communities you advertise on. Do post/affiliate exchanges.

It's alot of hard work; but the rewards are a big payoff.

theres your problem it doesn't look appealing. here is a tip: try to keep the colours dark it irritates the eyes less so you can look at it longer

Here some tips:
  • Change the skin to a lighter one.
  • Get a better looking banner.
  • Get a domain. You can use Go Daddy and get domain for $10 a year or lower.
off-topic.com, net, org, and info is taken is already taken but you can get off-topic.me ($20 a year) or off-topic.us ($5 a year).

I'd have to agree with every single one of these suggestions.

There are many coupons also for Godaddy so you can get a domain for alot less then $10

I'm also having a problem like that i'm a forum promoter and i think from the sites i've used we've gained about 5 new members.
one of our main problems is people join and you never see anything of they again.
If you interested in swapping tips that have worked for each other then please pm me and we can work from there 🙂
