Hmm, I think a lot of people might have preferred Forum Adverts to stay on phpBB3.

Personally I love vB, but I guess that's probably because my forum life was born and raised on vB boards.
Same as people who started off on phpBB boards probably prefer them.

So far the new FA owners are doing awesome 😀

I like vB too, I just think some of the Forum Adverts members may like phpBB3 instead, mainly because they are used to it like you said.

The phpBB3 db got messed up so it was best to upgrade.

AS Fowler has just said, the database for phpbb was totally messed up so we didn't really have many options.


1. Keep phpBB and use a new database but lose all the current data.

2. Convert phpbb forum to VBulletin and keep the current data


This is the reason me and jason decided to upgrade, we did run a poll on the site and everyone that did vote voted for upgrade to Vbulletin.


I sent a mass email out to al the members yesterday about this providing everyone registered with a working email address.

I believe that passwords don't get converted when you convert to vb from phpBB because of the way the passwords are stored.

In order to log in you need to request a new password and then use the new password to log in then change it in the UCP.

As for the spam bots i think that issue has been resolved.

Crap.

Just logged in. Immediately chucked out again.

Explain every single step because I have done everything you said.

Got the e-mails with my username and new password. Didn't work.

did you click the link to "RE=activate" your passwrod, just typing the passwrod won't do it, you have to click the link provided in the e-mail to activate the new PW ... so it verifiesit's really you 😉

Montrose, your the Mod team leader on the site.

I sent an email explaining that you have to reactivate your account as your passwords don't get copied over.


There is not much we can really do unless you register again and one of the admins merges your old account to your new one.
