Looks good but it takes a year and a day to load a page now... This morning it was slow but bareable but now it is unbareable.

Who is your host?

Edit: Your staff section is visable again so it was good that you were saying good things about me or else... :twistedman:

-lol-

lol, we have sorted things out, and i noticed it was a bit slow, we are going to delete all things we do not need on our ftp and see if this makes a differences, but we host our selfs so i will push our bandwidth to unlimited as well. -razz-

We have got a new cash system that you can read all about in our news section.

-lol- I can't read the staff room anymore -lol-

How many files you have on your server doesn't affect the speed of the site. The things that affect the speed of the site are how much load is on the server (the more people the more the load). This is caused by loads of people sending requests for pages on the server. The amount of queries on a page can affect speed as the more database queries it has to do the longer it takes and if loads of people on your server are using MySQL then it will slow it down so each query takes longer. The size of the files that are needed to generate page also contributes as if you have to load large files like you do in vb it will take a long time if the server is overloaded like it is on free hosts. Also large images (file size wise) and a large number of images can slow it down too.

Ways to solve it or make it better...
1) Move to a paid host where the server won't be overloaded
2) Disable all unneeded features that will cause extra queries
3) Optimize all your images and logo
4) Reduce number of topics/posts per page
5) Limit the use of images in signatures
6) Dont use vb -lol-

vb really needs paid hosting as it is slower the other software as it has more features so needs more CPU time, memory and queries the DB more often to run it.

We will not be switching away from VB, but we may get better hosting.
