On your forum do you hold any special events to commemorate your forums birthday/anniversary? Or only for special achievements i.e 5, 10 years? What do you do, if so?

When it was (bayside) turned 1 year I just posted about the history so far. I thought about an giveaway but the community wasn't big and haven't had anyone on.

Maybe secound birthday

I gave away a free copy of RMMV when RMMV hit one years old.

I also did what @Empire did with gamehandout, and posting it's history on either our third or fourth birthday.

I usually post a throwback to the history of my forum. And if the breadth of my community and content permits, I will organize a tournament.

This is a cool idea. I might have done this on FeedbackExchange way back when. I'd totally run a promotion like that if I still had the forum and an anniversary was coming up.

I hold a special month long event on my board every anniversary. As it occurs in October, we mix it in with Halloween themes.

We host an event called our Halloween Birthday Bash, and then hold a range of contests and activities that focus on a mixture of Halloween and video-games. Members then received rewards based on the number of points they accumulated during the event.

Thanks! Our bigger events always allow everyone to have a chance at getting a reward of some degree for participation. Even if you didn't win in a single activity during our Halloween Birthday Bash for example, you would still receive points for participation that have the potential to accumulate enough for a reward at the end. We felt it was better than just rewarding only winners or the top three at the end of the event, as that way even if someone lacked confidence in winning, there was still an incentive for taking part.

I wouldn't really hold special events, I usually would just make an announcement about it.

Sakuga won't be 1 year old til the end of May. On our old site we did. We called it "A4 month" A4 being the sites nickname. (Anime-forums.com) The month of August was always filled with events and silliness. One year, we made the site's biggest shitposter a mod for a day. He had like 40000 posts. Lol. It was so funny. He infracted everyone that he liked xD. Of course mods had to clean up his infractions later. Only time we did that, but people remember that stuff with fondness since he was well liked.

I think I will carry the tradition on with an SC month in May since that's when we launched it. ^^
