We use forum cash here for users to buy services and buy posts etc off other users. Without forum cash, we wouldn't really be able to offer as much as we do.

I am currently using points to run a posting competition.
So it would be not only who has got the highest postcount.
Referring new people will automatically give you more contest points, also liking Facebook page or following our Twitter will give you more contest points.
But yeah, this competition is not really popular (1st prize 25$, 2nd 20$, 3rd 10$), so I might close this event soon. No point to run this with 1-2 people...
But using forum points for posting competition is a good idea I think. I came up with this idea myself. 😉

For hosting, we are discussing about packages and their rates among our Staffs. It will be made available in a couple of days.
Also, when you submit a download, you get paid 10 SI$'s per every download other user makes. There are frequent offers that will increase your Forum points. Like the latest one by GAF, where you can double your Forum points.

Mine is an ebook reader forum (the Sony brand). I offer free ebooks sponsor by a couple of vendors. Right now, they can use their points to buy up to 5 tickets in the lottery for an ebook reader giveaway that is worth $180USD.
For ebooks, there's an application they submit to give the book title, author, bookstore, price. Once they hit submit, it's posted in a special forum with all the information and automatically calculate how many points it will cost them depending on the price of the book. There, a moderator look over the submission and if they have enough points, deduct the amount and send them a gift code via PM for the purchase of the book.
Once they are ready to redeem their points, they hit the Redeem Points link and it bring them to the Redeem Application screen:

They fill out the Redeem Application and hit submit and a topic is automatically created in the Redeem Status Forum in their name. There, they can post in the topic if they need to add more information and the moderators can ask question if they need more information. They will also notify via the topic when it's done, eventhough the person should have received a PM with the gift code. It's a way to let other moderators know that's it's been taking care of.

The 1st post that is created when they hit submit looks like this. It creates it in the requester's name. Also it automatically calculates the points depending on the price of the book and add it to the bottom of the 1st post in the topic.
