If a forum has a virtual currency system in place, and ways you can spend it do you normally utilize it?

I used to be into that when I first started using forums, but now I tend to focus more on the discussion than any "rewards" I can get from it. I do like when you can get aesthetic things with forum cash, though.

Generally, I'm like MeowsePad. I focus more on the discussions than using the forum's currency. Unless, of course, I need something that the currency can purchase.

I generally use forum cash to advertise on the forum, just like we have it here. It's better to use the cash rather than fill your back accounts.

I've mostly avoided using any sort of forum currency, I find it just encourages users to make a large amount of lower quality posts as opposed to a few well thought out posts.

We have a currency system in place. People can use their cash to buy username changes, inventory items and pay each other for stuff. Its a fun little addition that adds another element of interactiveness to the community.

If I feel a need to want to use it, I will use it. Generally speaking, I will only take advantage of using forum cash, if I know that the forum genre is better suited for it.

I used a cash mod at FeedbackExchange (back when I owned it) and offered an exchange rate for real currency. It was a good way to encourage posting, and didn't cost too much really. Cash extensions aren't right for every forum, but they're run to have. You don't have to have a real economy for cash to be useful, just basic rewards.

A forum cash system is in place, they're called play coins, which can be used to purchase username changes, profile backgrounds, notice box ads, prizes for contests and even eShop cards/game codes. There's much more besides.

Points are earned at Forces of Steel to purchase album badges to make your profile stand out, since it's a forum about metal music.

We have New Points installed on my forum. You can spend it on a username change and a bold username.

I'll use forum cash if it can be spent on non-forum -related items e.g. gift cards, domain names, advertising, services, in auctions etc. otherwise I don't value it at all.

On my forum, I'm using NewPoints to run the Top Member Contest with cash prizes. 🙂

I think it's a great idea to get members to join in and participate more into the community. It makes it more fun.

I wish there was something like this for IPB4.
