What languages are forum softwares made of?

Such as Phpbb and Xenforo, and others..

PHP, CGI, mySQL, jQuery, JavaScript, Ajax you could throw HTML and CSS into the mix too.

Indeed, but PHP + MySQL (L.A.M.P, Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP) is the most common. This is the core, other languages just help to make it more attractive and more functional (like JS, cgi).

Actually ProBoards is built of CGI :great:

What has LAMP got to do with forum software scripting? LAMP is a description of a web server OS image bundle, which contains said built-in features. It's PHP mainly (or ASP), with SQL for database storage.

It's not outdated at all... It's just designed poorly looking.
If it's so outdated, let me know once you've managed to go and find a security vulnerability and are able to hack it. It's not outdated.
