I have noticed that a lot of forums are copying other advertisment forums. I am on 2 advertisment forums. Hireem and forum promotion. Each one I went to had someone advertise another advertisment forum. But all those forums are exactly like the one they had advertised on. No creativeness. The reason of creating a forum is to go into competition with others by making your own unique style of forums to get more people on. The advertisment forums I have been on just have name changes. We need to do something to stop these evil unjust copies of classics. Its like stealing the idea of super man and changing his name to ultra man. Not even changing his clothes! Post with us forum promotion. Post with us unique ad forums. Come togethor and stop these evil thieves!

Thieves? So you are saying that two gaming forums cannot both have a discussion board for Sony? Or no two forums can have an Off Topic section? Are you saying that no two forum programs can have smileys?

There is no problem with having the same service. If FP didn't have most of the services we have, it wouldn't be a good promotion forum. Sure, forums do need some kind of uniqueness, and Forum Promotion does.

I couldn't agree more with that 🙂

I think the guy is being misinterpreted a little..or not being understood well.
he does have a point tho as many advertisement forums especially on IF circle are pretty much the same..even down to the people administering and moderating it,
sure you can both have the same services and such but most forums look soo much alike even down to the same layout and forum headers and categories.
A lot of people create advert forums cause they are the easiest to get a lot of members and some sort of activity.

HapSon does have a point. I agree. Yes, forums can share some of the same services but even down to the text being the same and the same moderation might be a bit more of a copy than not...

He has a point. There's too many advertisement boards throughout IF nowadays.

Us being not on IF is probably why we are so big now as we were one of the first ad boards to use phpBB3 so that made us unique and phpBB3 was new when we started using it as it was at RC3 i think so people wanted to use phpBB3 as it was new.

Multiple advertisement boards are great, if anything complain abotu mulitple gaming chat boards. there are so many of them that they are becoming redundant.

My site has been copied many many many.. lets just say too many times to count. Ive learned not to care anymore. If its a copy of something else, I will not register.

I see what you mean, but there is only so much you can do with an advertisement forum.

I notice that advertising/promotion, gaming, and general/chat forums are the most copied normally.

Well, you can't really say that people copying others by creating another advertising/promotion, gaming, general chat forum is a thief. No one own ideas or at least you don't legally own them so someone else can use an idea you have. You can't really say Samsung copied Apple because they both sell mobile phones.

To some extent, forum copy is a good thing because this increases competition which makes the market leaders want to improve the forum to compete with their competitors. If there was only one forum per topic, then they have no incentive to bring new things to the table and improve their forum. This is the same with businesses. Apple won't be releasing new iPhone every year if they are the only phone in the market as they have no incentive to do so and people will buy their phone regardless.
