Forum Descriptions

What do you put in your forum category descriptions? Do you prefer them to be shorter or longer?

I try to keep mine short and to the point, they're mostly 1-3 sentences at the most. When my forum was first started some descriptions were like mini-paragraphs... we quickly got feedback from members on that and then changed them to the new, concise ones they are today. More detail isn't always better in my opinion.

As much as possible, I keep it short, but informative.

Since my situation is slightly different using esoTalk..I tend to have descriptions for the main channels however I do not have any for any secondary channels since I feel like they kind of are already descriptive enough.
