Forum Directorys.

Not really, most links get little to no hits. Your time is better off making relevant backlinks.

Um here and everywhere you post create backlinks as long as your site is in your signature. I suggest you use anchor text though as "Click Here" will not help your SERP.

The primary point of directories is not to gain a backlink, rather gain awareness as a site under a certain niche by humans. It's a directory, not a link farm, like a street directory. Believe it or not, people do actually visit quality directories in search of sites. A lot of advertisers look through quality web directories in order to find quality sites to advertise on.

Take BOTW.org for example. I think it's about $300 per listing, and that's because it's a quality directory, aimed to list the "best of the web". Yes, you do gain a backlink, but if a web directory aims to just give away backlinks, Google will definitely penalize that site, because it's just spamdexing.

If you don't get traffic from that listing, then it's most likely a bad directory. BOTW.org is a reputable site in Google's eyes, hosting only quality links, so they will get people visiting and inadvertently, gaining you a good backlink.

So yes, if it's a quality directory, and if you have money to spend, then yes, it can help, but usually, it's the best sites that get into quality directories.

What about LinkTyphoon?.
LT is a top forum, not a web/forum directory (although it could be). It's there to provide a banner exchange service between your site and mine, and rankings are dependent on either pageviews or internal hits. The more hits you get, the higher you rise up the page. It's a dependent service, but can be utilized with great results.

I agree with the signature links, all you ahve to do is post and your signature will help advertise.
