The question isn't 'do you have forum games?', it's do you turn post counts off for the forum games board?

I usually do, that way, they don't count for the 'total posts' of the forum.

While I do like forum games, I also see them as a form of spam.

Forum games aren't really spam.

Post counts are included on all areas of my forum. The twitter link doesn't include news posts ( world news) or the Obituary section.

As long as the games are sensible ie ban the person before you ( for fun), count to a 1000 (using pictures) then there should be no problem.

It is games like one I have seen which is "annoy the person above you' which can get out of hand.

I thought forum games were cool back in the day but since I'm older and wiser, don't like them anymore and think they are completely pointless. I even don't have a Forum Games section on my forum just to note. And from what I know at a forum I used to be a member of, there were a handful of members that joined just for the forum games which wasn't good.

I do have forum games on mine, we have post count turned off. When I did this in the past, I had a rule that during the post count game, you had to put a post after your number. For example:

1. How is everyone doing today?

You couldn't just put the number. Now, I don't care either way as to whether or not they make a post after the number.

I would but there is no option to disable post count on the forum. 🙁 I may install a simple phpBB3 board for forum games type thing.

Depends on the professionalism of my board really.

For general chat boards that have no real purpose other than to hang out with, I don't really care if Forum Games up their post count.

However, on other boards that require post count to do some things, or certain post count requirements for Staff Members, I generally turn it off.

I don't mind them. It has always been for me one of the quickest way to socialize with the fellow members.

I don't even know nowadays if it really bothers me people has high counts based on games only, since I am not paying a domain or anything, I don't care. 😛

I like to have a bit of everything. Sometimes you want to debate some otehrs you just want to be silly, it is fine with me.

Forum games could be a cheat for exchanges.

That's why you ensure you specify "Don't post in forum games." 😉
He he.

The more the specification for exchanges, the better.

Some people are too quick and just say the amount and them post the topic. Then they complain.

This is the big reason why I have post count turned off. For post exchanges. And as said before, make sure you request what forums you want posted in as well.

Members tend to love these spammy little games. But I don't see anything meaningful so I have disabled post counts for it.
