Forum Idea

Im not starting the forum now, but I am planning it and I am stuck between 2 topics

Computer Support / Other tech stuff forum
Will talk about computers and stuff related to that

Football Forum (Soccer 😛)
Have match updates, maybe a few games, discussion of rumours etc..

go with football forum.

computer/tech is much more competitive than football forum.

if you have few football fanatic friends, you can take your forum to a good start and gradually it will grow. whereas, with the tech forum, it is difficult to start-off as the web is filled with tech support and tuts.

I think Computer/Tech is better because it's more than one simple subject and that seems to be just a better choice. In my opinion anyway.

I think you need to ask yourself what of both you know the most of and spent the most time doing.

How many of your friends are the most in football or tech stuff, and of course how your forum will stand out from the competition.

You shouldn't let others choose for you, cause both are genres of which tons and tons of forums exists.

And the only way you'll manage well is when you pick the genre your into the most.

I think I am more likely to go for the football forum, it is a bigger part of my life but I do enjoy helping others with tech (suppose i could just join a different forum? 😛 )

The longest but smartest strategy is to work your way up and establish yourself as a member on a existing active community that is into football yeah.

Then once you got the needed tools to setup a forum that you know will be active cause it will have a mixture of friends and those you got to know from the other forum or forums into football.

Do you already got a domain name in mind? (Don't share it btw.)

I don't want to join one because with experience, i end up sort of copying that forum (sections, ideas etc.) because they are the first things that pop into my head.

I havent started thinking about the domain yet but im getting there!

I agree with 412160. I think it would be more enjoyable for yourself and people who joins your forum has common things to talk about. Good luck on your forum. 🙂

Make something you find fun. You'll get bored of the forum if you're not that into the subject 😉
