For the most part I only see a kind of "radio" on some Forumotion sites and then there are a few plugins out there that let you embed your own radio station into the forum, and for me I cannot stand the radio suddenly playing as soon as I visit, so as long as it's there but doesn't play unless I actually hit play I am fine with forum radio's. What is everyone else's thought on forums having some kind of playlist or radio on their forum? Do you have a radio embedded onto your forum?

I don't have one on mine, I think any type of auto-music playing on sites is annoying. I've seen them on some blogs and ForuMotion sites too.

I really don't see for a need for radios on a website anymore, everyone has a music player of their own in some form so no need to embed it on your site.

If it's your own radio, you have to be prepared to pay the licensing costs for music. https://www.streamlicensing.com/directo ... ge=pricing is the cheapest I found $20/mo for 3500 listening hours (but it also depends on your revenue and expenses). There are also certain rules around operating as a webcaster.

I think it could be quite a cool idea actually depending on the type of forum. If you are a music forum, you could have an "undiscovered artist" playlist and then embed some other radio's streams for different genres.

I hate these sites as they tend to be those awful sites hosted on free domains and hosting and it results in a lot of lag which makes browsing the forum a pain.
