Okay this topic will kind of be to see others thoughts on other forum software and see which is best for you and such.

Just state the pros and cons of each forum software you have used 🙂.

btw if this does not belong here go ahead and move it 🙂.

Alrighty I will go first -

Invisionfree

Pros:
1. Probably the most known forum software

2. Alot say it is the easiest to use.

3. Many mods and skins for it

4. The acp is very easy to get around

Cons:
1. Long url name

2. Not very secure

3. Outdated compared to proboards and zetaboards

Zetaboards

Pros:
1. Alot more secure then invisionfree

2. Easy ACP

3. Alot of mods

4. Comes with a flash bbcode

Cons:

1. Long url name

2. When I tried it,it was hard to find a decent skin and hard to make a skin for it.

Proboards

Pros:
1. Another very well known forum software

2. Making skins for proboards is easy as one two three

3. Alot mods for proboards

4. Not to long a url name as IF and ZB

Cons:
1. Not as noob friendly

2. The ACP is a bit odd and hard to get use to

IPBFREE

Pros:
1. Alot of mods to install in a few clicks

2. Great skins

3. Short and Simple url

4. Skins are easy to make

5. Invisionfree skins work with ipbfree

Cons:
1. Even though there are alot of mods it uses a point system 🙁. This is to be fixed in version 3.0 though.

2. There are alot of great skins, but hard to find them 🙁.

3. I find the ACP on ipbfree the hardest of any free forum software :/.

PHPBB3

Pros:
1. Probably the most customizable

2. ACP is clean and simple

3. Alot of mods and skins

Cons:
1. Only one that I can think of,and that if you want full phpbb3 usability you have to install it yourself on a website and install the mods yourself. It takes time, but it is worth it.

My final thoughts - for a noob zetaboards would be best to use. For a average user proboards or IPBFREE.

For someone wanting pure customization PHPBB3

Anyways those are my thoughts what are yours?

The only one I've used is PHPBB3. I like being able to customize it. The only real con I know of (and it's not too big of a deal) is when the version updates, some of the mods and themes may not work on the new version and you have to wait until an update for the theme or mod is released unless you can code yourself.

Check this site out: http://www.forummatrix.org/

It shows you all the benefits and restrictions of each forum software. It also shows you some less-popular softwares that I know I didn't know about..

If you ask for our reviews, we are all going to be opinionated and start a debate over who is better. Much like any IPB vs vBulletin thread.

So, go to that site for an unbiased review.

Just so you know, you're not really comparing forum softwares. You're comparing free forum hosts.
