There's a very popular admin forum that features 20 or so sticky threads on some subforums. I'm sure these sticky threads are important but it takes forever to scroll down on each page and very little original discussions per page. It's very annoying and frustrating dealing with this specific situation so I usually dno't visit that forum very often. Just wondering what would inspire a person to think so many sticky threads are ever necessary. For instance, wouldn't it just be easier if they just had one sticky post with a thread listing all the same information or links to relevant, non stickied threads? That could serve the same purpose. What do you think?
I would never place more than a few stickies. Anything more is too much and stickies are supposed to be important threads anyways, if you have 20 of them then they aren't really going to be see as important.
Very much like what above posters have said, having too many sticky threads is not a good idea. Sometimes it's necessary to have more than one or two sticky threads. I think 3-4 is the ideal number, more than that it becomes too long to look at the next part. And it definitely can tick people off because we are presented with too many 'important' threads but not being able to view the actual content.
