Forum Stock Market

Updated stocks. We THe Gamers jumped up quite a bit with the update. 🙂
Investors would have already seen a 100 FP$ jump per share in their investment had anyone purchased two nights ago when it opened!

I've updated my stock thread with the new current value 🙂

SO what benefit is this for forum owners?

I can see why users would want in as this as they can earn FP.
But for forum owners, the only way for them to earn FP is if they make their forums die to drive their price down xD

Lmao, I had been wondering the same thing though decided to participate anyways xD

Updated stock prices. @kingcool52, your forum is now at 61 FP (please update. I don't want to do it for you). Also, your forum has been updated too @TDK. 🙂 It is at 345 FP.

Gives forum owners the chance to decide how much dedication they want to try to get their forum activity levels to go up or down for this; and to ofcourse be more active on FP in general to make sure they have enough to not loose if someone wants a payment (which is why I didn't want to be the one to hold ALL the FP for this, 'cause that would mean I would have to build up my FP considerably before doing this before hand). Plus I do have some FP if anyone does end up needing a short FP loan to cover costs right now. But I don't want to actively give it out, if I don't have to.

All fun either way. 🙂 Good way to help get motivated to do something about ones forum.

@Joshua Farrell Thanks! I've updated my thread. I'm really hoping others will take part in this as I'd certainly like to invest in others forums, and would love to have others invest in my own.

A quick question though; if someone does purchase shares in your forum and then wishes to sell, is the forum owner obligated to purchase the shares back?

@TDK, I might have mentioned this in one of the two first posts, but if someone wants to sell, they can either sell back to you or someone else, so long as you are notified of it. So if the person sells to someone else, that person who is buying from that user, has to transfer the current cost to the person selling and then notify you. I probably should add a fee on top of that, so that you as a forum owner profit a little from the transfer of stocks.

@Joshua Farrell What happens if there are no other buyers/investors and the member REALLY wants to sell? Would the forum owner then be 'forced' to buy them back?

Yeah. But as a policy, if you don't have enough, I will pay the remaining that you cannot give.
See, in the actual stock market, buying stock is a risk you have to be willing to take. Not a guarantee. The company isn't forced to buy back stocks. Some companies do buybacks once in a blue moon to raise their own value, but that's all optional.

@Jordan I originally had it in my little information post, that you had to sell it back to the forum owner. BUT I am not against forcing the selling strictly between people who want to invest in it, once the shares run out, or if someone just wants to get rid of their shares for some FP.

@TDK and @Jordan, what if I were to make it mandatory that you cannot sell back to the forum owner, unless they want to buy it; and that they have to trade it with someone else if they want the FP for it?

@Joshua Farrell I think that would be a much better way of protecting the forum owners who participate, otherwise we could easily go bankrupt if our forums are active and people only invest to make a quick buck and want to flip the stock after only a short while.

Added the following to the OP:

Q: How do I sell my shares? Do I sell it to the forum owner or to someone else?
A: Unless the forum owner wants to buy the shares back at current value, you have to sell it to an another forum user that is interested in the stocks of the same forum you have stocks in.
Q: What if I just don't want to have the shares anymore, and I can't get another user or the forum owner to buy it back?
A: Then it is a loss for you. All you have to do is to mention to the forum stock owner that you no longer want your shares, and that the forum owner can resell them. All this, pending on whether or not the you cannot get a buyer.

Also @TDK, feel free to add to your thread the following if you want. 🙂
Stock Buy Back Availability: (Available - Buying Stock Back OR Unavailable - CLOSED)

Also, should take into the algorithm of the number of people selling the shares.
If the people are trying to sell the shares, and no one is buying, the value of the stock decreases. Or will increase if the owner buys them back.

Then it will perform like a real stock market. Kinda. Will also give incentive to forum owners to buy back the stock at higher costs that they sold it.

I'll figure something out in my spreadsheet that I have to keep track of everything.

@Joshua Farrell If two forum owners wish to trade shares in their forums, is that permitted?
For example, if someone had shares worth 150 FP and another had shares worth 75 FP, could they trade 10 shares for 20 of the other, evening out the deal value-wise?
