How many forums have you come out with, Spudster? You always say, "Oh I'll be dedicated" but yet you hardly ever are! If you're looking to land a full time job a forum is probably not a good idea at this time. I have a part-time job so my situation is a bit different. I'm sorry I got rude right away but I'm tired of you saying you'll be dedicated, only to turn around and find out that yet another site of yours has closed.

However, I will be a bit more nicer than that and say this: I'm sure the ones that have a full time job probably come on on their lunch breaks or when they have weekends off OR when they come home in the evenings. All jobs are different, so you never know if you'll have time to come on or not. This is really something you'll have to play by ear.

If you are just launching this forum, I wouldn't worry about not having enough time to monitor since traffic will most likely not be there to require such moderation now.

If people can hold a full time job and have a family then I don't see why owning a forum is going to be so much more difficult then having just the first two. I suppose it's all about finding time for each and not letting any of your obligations conflict with each other.

People do have hobbies no matter how busy they are.

That's pretty much the whole thing is time management. I mean, what if you wind up with a job where, say, your hours are awkward to the point where you can barely find time to get on? My mom used to have a job like that.. worked the nightshift and slept during the day to catch up on sleep. So sometimes something like this isn't even possible.

And by the way, I wasn't bashing anybody who was or wasn't busy enough to have a hobby. That was not my intention at all.

I know I have closed past forums But these are past mistakes that Im looking to change. There are forums where the admins hardly get besides there weekend/days off.at this point I will have 4-6 hours A day This may change depending.

4 hours a day? That's about what I do on average so that's really not bad. I'm hoping you'll live up to your word this time, Spudster, and maybe, just MAYBE I might join up with your forum when it's ready. This was actually the reason I didn't join up with your last site was because you said you'd be dedicated but you weren't...but...and this is a HUGE but... I just might be willing to give you one more try.

Oh, and the 4-6 hours a day was with my real life job...not with my forum lol. I love my forum but not to the point where I'd neglect my real life responsibilities!

I have a full time job and I have enough time to create/update my blog. You should be fine, but make sure that you balance your time carefully. Your forum is not more important than health, your job and your present life.
That said, don't let your present life stop you from being dedicated to your forum.

I am the same life is always first on weekends I will have atleast 12 hours of time. Since this is my last year next year Im looking into getting A Web Development course(tafe) Which could be longer days, Besides that I will have atleast weekends or time to spare.

Please improve your spelling and grammar before starting a new forum. Professionalism is extremely important... 😉

Good point. I never thought of that one.

That is definitely true. Appearing (or truly being) professional is one thing that is key for me. I find it very difficult to enjoy being on a website that can't produce that experience for me.

If at any point I feel a forum is not credible, or knowledgable in a topic - I pretty much leave that forum.

I hope so, mate. I truly hope that's so.

Should be:

I am making sure everything is perfect before it launches on the internet. At the moment I'm building it on my local machine.

On another note: This will be using your custom software?

Yes It will be custom coded, I have hired A designer to create A theme with the boot strap frame work. Will have a demo view up in a few days.

As for me, i usually go for appointment system - unlimited appointment reminder that keeps me updated about what i have to do. Can't keep it all together in my tiny head. And i can't handle time management since school and college - always did all assignments the very night before due date.

Oh wow, that is some serious necromancy lol

I'll probably have to wire together a script for cross-site notifications to get a little feed of what's happened and what hasn't, but generally speaking, it's not too hard to keep on-top of a site, supposing that it's actually active.

The tricky part comes, if you're expected to blast out fifty to a hundred posts a day to stimulate activity, as opposed, to just going with the flow.
