I have an own domain and i'm trying to use it on my ForuMotion Forum.. i suck at these stuffs  but could some1 please help me? I talked to the ForuMotion Admin "Typlo" And he said

"Hi,

This procedure would cost a $25 fee, I can then transfer it to our account.

Best."

I dont know anything about CNAME and stuffs, Help me out please x)

If you have your own domain (.co.cc or a .com), why would you still want to stick with Forumotion? There's a lot of better options.

Because you can get a fomain for free on ForuMotion if your forum has the high amount of activity points needed.

What he means by this is the domain transfer is 25$. That is outrageous, do not do it.

If you have your own domain, find a WEB HOST and put your domain on there. Download a forum software such as phpbb, smf, invisionfree, or some other software. I don't think there is forumotion software, unless forumotion runs under php or something.

After you find it, download it. Then upload it to your webhost, and edit it from there. No ads or anything!

Forumotion is based on phpBB2 but just heavily modified. You can't download it as it was made by them for them.

If you do the above method, you will lose all posts/members. The problem with freehosts is that you can only do what they allow you to do and for the price they allow you to do it.

Finally someone else says it!

Everyone I talk to say its phpBB3, when its actually phpBB2 heavily edited and modded.

I am pretty sure it is just phpBB2 massively edited and modified hence why it does miss some key phpBB3 features like delete all posts by a user in the acp. I know that caused alot of problems when there was alot of spam on forumotion forums and all posts by a user had to be deleted manually. If it was phpBB3, they wouldn't remove some key features like that. There was others but i have used forumotion for a while.

Well I can remember when forumotion was using the phpBB2 admin panel so I'm sure it is phpBB2.

And yeah I'm sure forumotion would have never deleted that feature.

Actually, you are both not 100% correct. Though it may be "based" on PHPBB2, it is self coded by the technicians at Forumotion. They have also taken parts from other software such as vBulletin. Hence why "forumotion" is a software in itself, as well as a host.

My site isn't released yet so i dont have any members or anything so that doesn't matter. i like forumotion cause it's easy to edit & nice skins and so on..

Well.. other from that, Does some1 know a good host wich i can use my domain on & no ads and such?

Yeh.. hopefully a good FREE ad-free host & i dont know anything about setting up with SMF / phpbb myself so .. ;/
