I just came across a site called Forumotion do you think it would be safe to use and trustworthy.

My forum was at its best point when I was using Forumotion. Many will probably disagree with me, but as a free host I think it did its job well. There are limitations to what you can do since it is on free host, but at least you can still edit some things to customize the forum and have integrated features, such as points system, which saves you from exhausting yourself with the codes.

All in all, it was a good experience for me. That was few years ago so I don't know how much Forumotion has changed since then.

I enjoyed hosting with them a couple years back. I just can't remember if you can generate a backup to move your forum to another server or not. Most free hosts will either not provide a backup, or charge you a fee (for data that's yours -they just want the money)

I've seen better free hosts and postforhosting hosts which will give a lot better specs.
Didn't say it's not trustworthy though, feel free to use it.

Forumotion is definitely one of the better free hosts out there, and if you can't afford to pay for your own hosting then it is definitely an option you should look into. Obviously it does have its downsides, as already stated in this thread, but considering it is free I've always found it quite good.

I used another technique to get my database out when I wanted to move out of Forumotion years ago. As far as I know that has not changed until now; they do not allow us to download backups for the forum.

I don't really like free forum hosts due to not being able to access your forum data and have full access, However when I was new to forums and used them A good few years back they did the job will, It's a great choice for a free forum host.

Remember once you sign up and get loads of data to your forum you can never leave them or move hosts, Your stuck. (unless that converter thing still works)

Every free forum host is good as long as you don't violate their TOS. I have used forumotion to host my "ethical" hacking blog. I found their ACP much organized than other forums hosts, and they always replied to my support threads. You can also use your own TLD in forumotion for free. The only drawback is that you can't transfer your forum to your own host if it gets bigger, they don't provide SQL DB and all of your forum contents are literally owned by forumotion. If I'm not mistaken, ForumPromotion was also built using Forumotion?

FP used FreeForums.org when they started I think :/ but freeforums hand over your data for a small fee I think.

Back when I made my very first forum, I picked Forumotion to host my site. For beginners I feel like it's one of the best free forum hosts available on the web. However if you want full control over your site, then free forum hosting is not for you.

Well, I am not a beginner, and I have used pretty much every free host out there, as well as several paid options. I have gone back to forumotion every single time.

I own and run a handful of websites on that platform and absolutely love it.
I don't find it limited, I have been able to do everything I have wanted to with my sites on it, including implementing code hacks (legal) that have enabled me to make several of them unique to any other.

I have never personally had any security issues either, and find them to be quite trustworthy!
Hope that helps.

I've used it before and it's OK. It's perfect to use for your first ever forum, the features are good. But if you want more out of your forum, then I don't recommend it. The software is very basic.

Not really, with javascript support you can almost do anything and it can be advanced as other forum softwares.

Forumotion is legit, I've used it before to make boards, and I was a moderator of an Anime board a friend made with them.

They're a good host but not my thing. Much prefer Zetaboards.
