Hello all,

I remember that my first ever forum was on Forumotion. By then I think it was a great host and it allowed you to chance between forum softwares which was quite good but now thinking back it's quite a bad host. What do you think about Forumotion?

I think I used forumotion once way back in the day when I first started using forums. The site never opened, didn't like it then and I definitely don't like it now. Seeing a site on forumotion is a major turn off for me and there's a 99% chance I won't join a forum hosted on it. You'd have to have something I really want to be in that 1%.

I technically have only had two forums in my life....though I consider it one.

I started out on forumotion back in 2011....I had no experience or knowledge of software and I saw it was free and I wanted my own forum. So why not.

For what it was and offered, forumotion isn't bad at all. It allows admins to get up and running with little to no effort at all and provided things like skins and a free chatbox. Idk much about other alternatives but forumotion isn't bad at all.

This is the only forumotion forum I use presently...

Still...
The fact that forumotion owns my data and if I am unhappy or wish to expand elsewhere, I'd have to start over troubled me. The lack of quality skins and mods bothered me. Support wasn't the best.

We used forumotion for my site between October 2011-February 2012 and amassed 30,000 posts and about 1500 or so members.

I switched to free solutions(Mybb then SMF) and had to start over with what is now my existing forum in February 2012.

I'd recommend forumotion only if you literally don't care about EVER doing much with your forum and just simply want something to call your own with as little effort as possible

I remember my first forum was hosted on ForuMotion, and it, at the time, seemed just fine for me. However, now that I know what to look for in hosting and what not, it really isn't a good choice for a forum that wants to move on to another host in somewhere in the future. The support is sub-par and the lack of quality themes for the different versions of the software make it a bad choice.

However, if you want some kind of testing environment, then FM might not be too bad of a choice.

I've had many forums hosted on Forumotion. I liked it back then because I couldn't afford paid hosting, software, and domains.

Now that I look back at it also, it's very very limited, the support is terrible, and I didn't like the available softwares.

I remember one thing that really annoyed me is that you needed to pay like $10/month or something like that for you to use your own domain.

Idk if it was because my forum was super active but I actually got a free domain from them in my 3 months with them.
