Does anyone know how to do backup database on forumotion?

I don't think you can unless you contact the support people. That's one downside to free forums.

50Cent, you can have automatic backup on Forumotion. It's actually a built in feature. 🙂 Personally, it gives you peace of mined.

Go to:

Administrative Panel/Home/Advanced/General/Security/Automatic Daily Forum Backup/Active

But the thing is you cannot back up to your computer, it's a stupid thing they do to stop people from moving off their servers without paying them a large amount of money.

Actually im pretty sure (not 100% sure) that they don't even offer backups even if you offer them cash.

yes they dont allow server change or any kinda other backup than their own built in one.
they are safe but this is a downfall that you cant change the hosting

Forumotion never will give out there backups due to security reasons. You may backup your forum using "ultils" if you ever need to but you may not get a remote download copy

I think sometime in the future, Forumotion will allow transfers.

Yes. I've was a ForuMotion fan before and they don't back up files unless you give them cash money.

Actually, ive heard about a case, where someone really needed a backup of their files and they offered ForuMotion like $60 for a backup and they refused it.

Im not too sure of their policy against backups and what not as I tend to stick away from free forum hosts as they cause more trouble then they do good.

If you want your file to be back up, it cost about 100 dollars or more.... They don't have a great host and it's hard for them to back up file because their server is too dang slow!

You can move off forumotion using crawlers, but they don't want people to move off forumotion so they dont give out backups.

A crawler searches your forum at basicually gets a backup of it. The reason they don't allow you off there servers is because they earn money from advertising.

I've heard this too. You can't get a backup from them no matter what you do. I used Forumotion as my very first forum host, and I really didn't like them. So no, you can't get a backup from them no matter how much money you offer them. Typically, proPHPBB is better at this kind of thing.

Crawlers look through your whole site looking at posts, topics, forums, member porfiles and member lists, copying it all down. The only thing is when you restore a crawler, all passwords need to be reset, as it can't see them.
