Well my forum is slowly becoming inactive. it went from averaging about 200 posts a day to about 10 posts a day.

Any idea why or ways to make it active again?

I'd say post yourself; but not "What's your favorite color?" type posts, content-ey posts.
Also, perhaps doing more post exchanges or buying posts could help.

This is when I would start requesting services here at Forum Promotion or any other promotion forum. Request a package if it's been a while since your last package request, or take advantage of other services on other advertisement sites as well!

Maybe the sudden drop would be because Summer is ending and everyone is going back to school..?

Just add useful content and anything else you can do. Don't expect activity 24/7 7 days a week.

Make new topics and then promote them on Twitter, or other social bookmarks. Ensure they are discussion worthy topics, and maybe integrate something to do with debate and daily news, so for AJ, have something like "why so and so is not good any more etc. "

Contests, new services, new sections.

It's hard enough to think of new unique services and adding more adds more pressure. Services are getting more and more useless and there isn't much point for new sites having now, way to many.

If you run a promotion forum, dont count on much activity other than people coming to bump their advert thread. Sure some forums like FP have active off topic areas but the majority have fairly inactive off topic sections.

It was the opposite for me, as soon as summer started, activity started plummeting.

Anyways, the least one can do is to keep posting content. At least it won't be dead.

Depends on the type of forum. Chatty-like would gain a bit more activity as everyone would be bored and want to talk to others.

yeah, I think it being summer and all nice outside would make forums in active because they are outside and not sitting in front of a computer screen all day. Maybe in the Winter it will become more active 🙂

I am hoping that happens to me.

I suspect they go on night-time on their timezone. 😛 I usually spend summer doing lots of stuff like girly shopping. 😳
