***forums.com VS ***forum.com

I'd go with "forum" first, but if that is taken, then Forums will do.

I actually was searching for a forum and the first link i typed in was ***forums.com 😛 So they both work

People would usually automatically assume the url was xxxforum.com if they want to return.

For a second I saw XXX and got mad 😛

Anyways. It won't hurt to buy both. It prevents people from stealing it. I know godaddy says buy a .info , .tv etc. But really. If you are getting a .com no one will mistake it 😀 But the forum forums might get mistaken.

Well a forum (or board) is made up of several forums.

I suppose you could refer to a forum as "forums" since it is made up of several forums.

Guess it all depends on how you look at it.

That's actually what I would do is get both extensions. Then as said before, if you get copied or whatever have you, they won't be able to use the same domain that you had. So I would actually get both, as this would be better protection.

Thank you for the replies all.

Buying both versions is the best solution I think 🙂

edit: xxx is probably a bad example 😛
I am not the only one that thought xxx would be good in the name? Probably taken anyway. 😛

-- 17 Nov 2010, 12:14 --

Simple question:

What's better for you:

http://www.XXXforum.com or http://www.XXXforums.com

XXX - random word.

Thanks!
I was debating my site name without the s. I don't care to have it now but I might care a couple years from now.

Depends on what you are going for honestly. If you are making something for memory sake, then xxxforum, but if you are doing something to rank easily on google I suggest xxx-forum.

Also, should the xxxforum and xxxforums links be allowed here? I didn't click them but I can only assume what they might link to 😛

So....

Random-forum.com is better than randomforums.com?

(JUST AN EXAMPLE!)

I've always preferred forum.com which is why my cloverfield forum was cloverfieldmovieforum.com. Just sounds much better IMO.

Neither have any actual "pictures", and X is commonly used as a variable expression in math so not everyone would think what you're probably thinking they're referring to when "xxx" is used. xP

I prefer xxxforum. It's more easy to remember.

I wouldn't go for any of these ;D
I think that when you create a forum or website you should be more original than just adding "forum", "web" or something like that at the end of the domain.

But, if I only could choose between both and I could take both, I'd definitively take both to avoid typos getting to other sites and also have people using typos to copy my site.

They are both good so i guess its the same witch your chose it depends of the random word i guess.
You cant get Createforum.com it would sound strange better is Createforums.com don't you agree?

It would depend on the first word, though. Like Shole's example, certain words require the "forums" in order to actually make sense. Above that, I generally don't like domains with forum/s in them, so maybe consider another name.

Thanks for the answers. They were very helpful!

If you want, close this thread. 🙂

Neither. I prefer to have a completely different domain.
