Forums creating real-life relationships

Have you ever generated a real-life relationship because of a forum?

I'm talking about making a friend that you eventually met in person, gaining an actual girlfriend or boyfriend from a forum, or something similar where a relationship is established offline and in person away from the forum.

Similar story: I met my now wife because of my local hiking brand. She started out as a fan. We met and became friends and hiked together. It led to a relationship and now we're married. It wasn't a forum that made it happen, but it was online activities.

I'd love to see your stories though of how forums created real-life relationships and friendships in your life. 🙂

I haven't met any of my internet friends in real life yet. I would love to meet @Buddy The Elf someday, but it's expensive to travel to New Zealand lol. We do talk on Facebook though!

Both @Mayor MayWho and @Rudolph are friends of mine on Facebook. I don't think I have anyone else as a friend on Facebook through a forum. Maybe @Webster but I can't even remember.

It would be cool to have a real life hangout with @Mayor MayWho , @Rudolph and @PGen98 though.

I have some forum friends that I met in real life, and it's been over 30 years now that we've been friends. Some of them are dying off now, which is sad, but what amazing people!

It would be cool to have a real life hangout with @Mayor MayWho , @Rudolph and @PGen98 though.

You'd get one look at me and run the other direction, lol. But I could re-enact the Desolation of Smaug inside of Hobbiton while I was in upside down land!

Closest I've gotten is adding people on Facebook/other social media as I've gotten to know them more and gotten closer to them, but I've never met anyone irl (yet). I've had a few people over the years that I've wanted to meet irl as I've gotten older, but not really anyone currently. (Not to mention, travel ain't cheap lol.)

I still have some online friends on Facebook and Instagram, but I haven't talked with any of them in a while.

We seriously should try and do this! I've seen other forums have meet ups, it would be a bit expensive for some but maybe if we could pitch in together and make it happen.

TN isn't too far from Missouri lol. My wife and I traveled through Tennessee earlier this year to get down to Georgia. So then everyone meet up at Cam's house next Summer lol.

I used to live in a sharehouse full of people I met on an Australian Nintendo forum 😂 We're all still friends and will probably be doing New Years together this year.

I've met a handful of other people from forums as well, including someone in the Bay Area when I travelled there

As a truck driver, it would be possible to meet some USA based people when I am on the road. I would have to have the time to do so. I wanted to go visit @USHost247 , but never had the time for it. @Dfarmer2001 is someone I would like to hang out with also.

I've been unable to meet any of my forum friends offline. Most of the discussions happen online and end there. If I am allowed to choose, I would like to meet @Caroling Kat offline as she's a person who has welcomed me quite well on this space. A nice person who made my stay on FP truly worth it even when some others ignored me.

I am in good terms with one individual. I met them on a forum and, and start talking on social media. Interestingly we live in the same city.
