I wouldn't necessarily describe it as being lazy. The web is evolving - social networking and community sites are becoming more and more user friendly. It is the forum owner's responsibility to ensure that his / her forum is user-friendly.
Members don't necessarily visit a forum to work, they have no real obligation to the forum owner - they are entitled to a user-friendly, informative and enjoyable experience. If they don't get all that at one site it won't be difficult for them to find a better site.
In my opinion, the view that forum members are lazy is a bit like a store owner saying that his customers at lazy because they won't spend time searching his store for the products they want. The thing is, it's not the customers responsibility to do that. But it is the store owner's responsibility to ensure that a customer visit to his store is a pleasant experience and that the customer can find what they are looking for, quickly and easily.
