Have any of you noticed that forums seem to be less active over the holiday season? It's been a lot quieter on forums lately :/

Yeah - people tend to hang out with friends and family in real life instead of online. Every year, at the beginning of the month, people will start tons of new forums thinking that they'll have lots of extra time. In the end, they normally don't have the time they thought that they did, and they end up closing the forum. That, I think, accounts for a lot of the "forums are dead around Christmas time" thing.

I agree. I, for example, have been spending lots of time with family and my fiancé since around November so I haven't had much time for Forums. I notice that people are the same way.

I also just started a new job in October, so I'm still trying to work seven hour shifts and sleep from like 2-12 then clean the house etc. XD Fitting Forums in is getting a bit easier, though.

It has been very quieter for the past week, Even on Christmas day FP was so alone as I didn't see much people online. It was also boring at times for me when I as online on FP and there is no content rolling.

Forums are a lot less active during the holidays. When I opened my first forum back in 2008, this actually upset me quite a bit as I was promoting my site like crazy at the time and I couldn't figure out why hardly anyone was posting. Now that I'm older and more mature this kind of thing doesn't bother me one bit. I just continue posting and promoting like normal. It's hard to get used to low activity at first, but trust me, you will get used to it

Yeah I think with any big holiday season people tend to spend time doing other things.

There'll probably be an increase in activity in a week or so.

Yes, they do on holidays because people find better things to do haha. Our forum tends to go VERY quiet on the weekends too because the majority of our users are probably browsing while they're in work or school.

Definitely. We lose about 70% of our activity for all of December most years.

I guess the holiday syndrome applies to countries all over the world because most of the people in the community are busy with other things. In our home, we have lots of things to do during the Christmas season. We have to put up the tree and the decorations which takes us 2 weekends and some weeknights too. Aside from that chore, we have to be cooking lots of food almost everyday, shop for gifts, etc. That may also be the reasons for other people to stay away from forums due to their personal and social activities for the holiday season. When Holy Week comes, half of the population are in beach and pool resorts. That explains it too.
