Sometimes forums get to a point where the staff steps aside and the forum is basically running on autopilot. There are members who log in every day, there are new posts every day, a healthy amount of members log in at least once a month and there are no reports to work. Christianity Haven has been at that point for a while.

Have any of your forums just run on autopilot? Did it last?

If you haven't reached that yet, are you close?

Most of the forums I own or have an involvement in do ebb and flow. I tend to be more active when the forum ebbs so I guess to some extent autopilot kicks in when they are in full flow. If it's a forum I own it's rare that I'm idle for more than a week or perhaps two though.

I have in the past when the forum got active.

I don't think it's the best practice.

Forum members want to be close to the owner most of the time. It's a really nice way to make friends. Forums to me are about making friends in the Metaverse!!!

So, I usually go inactive because I've given myself so much to do that I get behind a little and get really busy.

I have a ton of projects.

Oh, I'm there on Christianity Haven every day, it's just that I'm not really running the show and trying to start all the new threads and post everywhere. I can log in and post when I want, but there is no real obligation. It's a nice feeling to know that the members are loyal and addicted to the forum!

Mine's still quite small with activity. Plus I'm the only Staff on mine. I would love for my forum to have be on autopilot!

I have 3 forums and none of my forums run on autopilot. I have to work hard to bring members to post on forums. I use exchange services or posting service to drive engagements on my forums.

Never seen that happen anymore on any sites 😛

I'm not even remotely on autopilot. I'm working on getting the activity going on my forum so it would be dead if I wasn't working on it.

I have had forums on autopilot many years ago, it's a nice feeling to see consistent activity and posts, especially after building a forum and starting from nothing.

TCS is not at that point unfortunately, but I believe one day it'll get there

Yes, I was a member of the staff on one forum where the members more or less kept things going on their own. It lasted for several years until the owner disappeared and basically stopped paying the server fees. Such is life, I suppose.

I can't say I have ever been a member of a forum that was on autopilot, it is very rare that you can see a forum where the staff and owners have stepped aside and the forum is still active with no issues at all. Most forums I have seen that have done this which I am not a member of seem to end up with a lot of trolls and a lot of spam and issues. It really is great if you can have a forum where the staff steps aside and the forum still runs smoothly.

IPB does not update automatic anyway and so hard

I don't think I've had my current forum on autopilot, and since it's a resource board where I'm doing most of the contributing, it kind of requires my attention. I generally make new posts every day.
