I used to go to forums to get opinions on medical advice or questions I might have about procedures others have had and to find out their outcomes. But lately, it seems that forums only have old news and places like Facebook Groups are where people are posting more and more.

Do you go to forums for any medical talk? Or do you go elsewhere?

I get medical advice from Reddit these days. When I got my tooth extracted last week, I was browsing r/dentaladvice about how long I needed to rinse my mouth to make sure I wouldn't get dry socket.

I usually just end up down Google rabbit holes about procedures and medical advice when I go to look something up. Just gives me general information, which is helpful, but if I want more information from people based on their experiences, I think it'd depend on what exactly I was looking for. If I was just looking for general opinions and experiences on a procedure, I'd probably just ask on a forum or Facebook group or something that was tailored to those types of topics. If I wanted opinions and experiences on procedures at practices in my area, I'd seek out local Facebook groups or even the local subreddits to get something more tailored to my area.

For mental health and diabetes I am on a few different Facebook groups so I ask questions on those.

I go to the doctor not random people on the Internet 🙃

The doctor might not have the experience that other people have had. I mean, you get male doctors who do hysterectomies, but they don't know what it feels like 😉

I sometimes go to forums not for medical advice but to read common people's experience. For medical advice, I like to uses sites like WebMD or Mayo Clinic.

I still go to forums for most advice.

AI tends to hallucinate so I wouldn't want medical advice from it.

People and experiences are more accurate. I don't like going to the DR so if I can get a good home remedy tip from a fellow forum user, I'd rather have that.

Plus, if you trust forums for that sort of advice, IMO, you're more one with forums and will likely be more successful at them.
