Hey all,

If you're reading this, chances are you've seen that we've made quite a few changes to the forum structure to make this easier to navigate for all involved. Some changes are common sense, some are more changes of necessity to help out our newer users in understanding the flow of things here, and some are just because we needed to clean house. But this marks the first of many parts of the transition to FP 2.0, or whatever we end up calling it, lol, with a forum cleanup! We still have more work to do, there will be forums added, merged and tweaked again in the near future as we finish planning out a few more things, but for now what you see is more logical flow to the FP forums so anyone can join and know where to go to post what they need.

What changed?

-We moved the Staff Vacancies and all Hiring posts in the News and Announcements Forum, as we feel that's really something that should be newsworthy 😉
--We added a Staff Changes thread to track the arrivals and departures of new staff, so we can keep you more up to date on when someone leaves the team as well as when someone joins.
-We moved (and renamed) the Welcome Wagon forum to be the first forum that new users see in an effort to promote engagement from the start!
-We moved Contests & Auctions to a new forum for easier tracking.
-We moved the FP Hot Seat to the index out of the Welcome Wagon for ease of use.
-We condensed the Community Matters forum down to just tech support, suggestions, feedback and our amazing Weekly Buletin. No more sub-forums galore 🙂
-We have moved ALL of our Forum Promotion Services to the brand new Package Depot category, making them front and center of the index and something to immediately draw the eye when scrolling. Everything you need for your site's services is right there in one area!
-We've streamlined the Promotion category, moving the services forums out and rearranging the directory, What's Going On (Now known as: What's Happening on Your Site?), the Battles and the Marketplace into new positions.
-We've merged the Marketplace down into one forum, using prefixes to help differentiate and search for content. We have also moved the Job Center and Exchange Central forums into the Marketplace for easier reading.
-Webmaster we have left untouched, as we have plans for this section moving forward 🙂
-Non-Promotion we have moved some of the forums into dedicated forums rather than sub-forums so they're visible and more easy to find.

That's it, there may be more tweaks here or there as we move forward, and we do have more changes planned on the horizon, but this has been our first big overhaul of the index and our first step towards creating the new, accessible, functional FP 🙂

We know that this will take some adjustment to truly get to know everything, but we hope you will see that this is truly a more legible and robust forum layout that makes the content stand out more for users of all levels. If you spot any issues, please let us know, otherwise welcome to our new forum layout 🙂

So glad you like the changes so far, we've got more to come 🙂

I like majority of the changes. Only one I don’t like is the FP Hot Seat being out on the main index. I would suggest if not in the welcome area than in the non promotion area somehow. I would put it as a sub forum in the intellectual talk personally - but I can tell you’re trying to have less sub forums.

The other changes look great and are making it easy to navigate for new and old members alike.

Your services are what draws people here, so I'm glad someone finally listened and place it up there. The sizing of each is just the right amount and I'm guessing for now you just grabbed what was in the guidelines for what is written there?

I agree with Reverie that the Hot Seat would be placed better in the non-promotion section, because you're trying to feature what you want new members to see first as they scroll down. Members will find it no matter where you have it placed but is it something you want to show off at the beginning?

Other than that, I like the Contests and Auction House section because I felt that sometimes anything that belonged in that category got ignored and maybe this will boost some participation? Great job!

Great changes! It may take some time to get used to where things are now put but please continue with the feedback. If any of you have any questions, never hesitate to reach out 🙂

Besides what already been said - I think the category names need work. Package Depot to Website Services.

Marketplace seems more fitting in the Webmaster category.
Battles aren’t promotion. What’s Happening On your site is a long name, perhaps Your Latest News or something alike would be more fitting.

Forum fun belongs in the general chat area.

I think that the battles are part of the promotion area because you add your link to your site there and you aren't allowed in some of the other areas of the site?

Of course, since I was a teen in the 80s, I saw What's Happening and immediately thought of this (so I thought it was cute)...

I agree, that one is out of place and does not belong up top. Thank you for the feedback. 🙂

I think that would be the best place for this as well or a new general section. Thank you for the feedback. 🙂

I agree the category names need a total workover however we want to make sure the names are not used on other sites, the reason we placed the marketplace there was because we felt that the job center and exchange were part of the promotion however we are open to ideas, are you thinking we need Just a general section away from non-promotion?

As we've said many times we value any feedback you give us, at the end of the day we are members as well and want the site to flow that works for everyone.

Keep the feedback coming.🙂

I'll take the time and write down suggestions.

First off, lose the grid look. The sidebar is way too long to justify the grid look, making this look worse. Try the traditional look, I guarantee it'll look better. I'll write down a layout that I think is more fitting:

Forum Promotion Home / Front Desk
News & Announcements
Community Matters
Contests & Auctions
Introductions

- Hot Seat

I get that you want to welcome members and have them see the introductions first, but it looks weird imo. They'll see it equally good being placed at the bottom of the first category. Hot Seat integrated with introductions, where it should be - this isn't a general chat forum. The rest of the subforums remain untouched.

Services Depot
Posting Packages
Review Headquarters (Lose the HQ)
Social Media Promotion
Marketplace

- Job Center
- Exchange Central

I've changed Marketplace here considering it holds peer to peer services. And changed some forum names. You know, SEO stuff. Rest of the subforums remain untouched.

Webmaster Chat
Website Management
Marketing & SEO
Web hosting & Domains
Software Talk
Monetization & eCommerce
Graphic Design & Development

I don't see any need for improvement here.

Community Engagement / Lounge / Chat / ...whatever suits you best.
General Discussion
- Forum Fun
Debate Corner
Entertainment Talk
Computer & Technology

Moved Forum Fun to General Discussion as it's more fitting and again - this is no general discussion forum so you shouldn't lay focus on spam and invaluable content. But still, good to have for blowing off steam. Changed some forum names that makes more sense.

I forgot to mention about Blog Contributions: Rename that to Articles or something along the lines and put it in the Community category. As the idea is probably to receive as much as engagement as you can.

Edit: oh and I really don't see the need for the prefixes to be listed on top of the threads list. If anything, this can cause more confusing for new members than the opposite.

Yeah, the hot seat definitely makes sense, that's a good change that @Noble's already implemented 🙂

Precisely, it felt disjointed having them just sort of smooshed into the promotion category, lol. Now they stand out, they're obvious and I think that works well.

Agreed, that was a change that needed to be made.

Fingers crossed it will, it really needed some good exposure!

We absolutely anticipate it'll take some time to get used to, but this layout feels better overall, IMO. It's more logical, flows better and makes the content more accessible without overloading the index.
Great changes, thank you to everyone for their hard work on this  A great start to FP 2.0!
The first of many changes 🙂

Website Services felt a bit bland, and while I understand it isn't about being over the top in terms of names, it felt more appropriate to give it a unique name and really let it stand for itself.

Yeah, we can probably reword the What's Happening forum, agreed.

Forum fun is in the generalized category 🙂

I'll review your proposal for the forum structure, as well, but we are quite happy with what's in place at the moment, barring some tweaks. I appreciate you taking the time to provide quality feedback, however, lots to consider!!

We didn't want to use the name Articles or Article Services on the basis that it might be misleading to some into suggesting we offer article packages for their sites, at present we do not.

The prefixes will look strange at first, but their logic will come through once the we move further forward with some of the next aspects of FP 2.0 🙂

Trying to catch up here XD - All the months that I'm busy FP goes into a deep entirely different cleanup and rebranded. Everything is looking good and I have no complaints about it, easy to look for what you are after in terms of what services and easy to get around and not to get lost. Aiming for new in-comings in my case that I see fit more so than regular members.

Yet, I see that the main Forum index page is longer to scroll from top to bottom and I would look into that, I'm not fussed about it but many people wouldn't scroll all the way to the bottom, "Community Of The Month Winners" is nice to have but maybe relocate it elsewhere or at least cleaner nice from the top of the Forum to reduce it a little.

site is looking very tidy and I must say @PGen98 congrats on being a big dog on the site 🙂

Funny you posted about it, we are looking at doing a smaller slider for this up top.
