Over the past few months, we have been working hard on creating a new theme for Forum Promotion. Within the next couple months, we plan to release this theme, along with many other amazing updates. Several days ago, we launched the second phase update to FP, which included an improved Promotion Directory, new terms of service, and the first public glimpse at the new theme which we are developing. Starting today, we will start to release more details!

Here's how it works: every few days, one of us will post a small snippet of the new theme. You can ask questions, speculate, and discuss the new screenshots as much as you like!

To start things off, I'd like to re-post the screenshot which we released a few days ago as part of the Forum Promotion 3.1, Phase II update. Here it is.

The new theme is already looking amazing and professional! I can hardly wait, FP is long overdue for a new theme.

@Sinon I'm already guessing there will be people who prefer this current theme and want to continue using it. Will this theme remain as an option to use?

For the old FPX theme to work in phpBB3.1, it will have to be ported. We're still discussing that, and will have more updates soon. 🙂

I swear it looks exactly like another theme I've seen somewhere, just can't remember the site but it looks exactly the same!

We are definitely open to opinions on that. Currently we do not plan on porting FP1 to my knowledge, though. What would your thoughts be on installing a different dark theme which is already offered for phpBB 3.1?

I always prefer dark themes if they are an option, however, FP1 was not a theme I enjoyed using. There was, and still is, just something off about it that makes me not want to use it. I think FP1 should be scrapped, and a new dark theme from phpBB 3.1 should be added. If it turns out to be a good dark theme, it's going to be the only FP theme I use.

Of course, this is just my personal preference. I have no clue as to how many other FP users would want a secondary dark theme option.

Thanks for the suggestion! 🙂 I'll bring up the idea of including a dark theme as well. It is definitely something I imagine a lot of people will want, as it can often be easier on the eyes, particularly at night time.

My thoughts exactly Luke. Probably something from Outline as Cody was the founder of Outline and skinned a lot of different skin there and he's the designer behind FP 3.1 i believe so that could be what you're thinking of. 🙂

It's definitely true, there are times where I'm browsing FP at 3am with no lights on in my roo and FP is just brightens my desk.

OT: Have you tried f.lux? I really love having it on my PC, especially because I get off work late at night and my eyes are really tired.

It's been great watching the theme come together. I can't wait until we're able to use it, a new look is long overdue! 🙂
