I'm sure this may go down like a Lead Balloon, however, with my involvement in discussions around FP for the last couple of weeks, I can almost detect a division between the younger members and for loss of a better term, "mature members".

In your honest, but humble opinion, do you think in some shape or form, FP would still function, if there were two versions of the forums, or at least two top level categories for the youth members and senior members? ... of course, when I choose the term "Senior" ... I am loosely including anyone from approximately 30-35y/o+

Of course, I am aware that a move like this could segregate/de-harmonise the community, but keen to hear people's general input on this matter.

Thoughts ...

All the best,
Cal 🙂

If there was 2 versions of FP, then 1 wouldn't work because of the activity and how huge the forum is here. If they did another version, then that would die instantly. They could be a copyright issue if something like forumpromotion.org or something like that. So overall if they was 2 then members would drive away from both versions and people would be getting confused. Most people wouldn't know which one too. It could ruin a lot of things if that happened.

Age is just a number. Maturity level varies from person to person and I'd rather chat with everyone in one big group just like we've always done.

Personally, I value your opinion and idea. My view on it that we should keep it how it is. Since then we have one big community rather than two community's. It could get quite confusing. Age doesn't matter. It depends on person to person. 🙂

While I agree with your statement, I am also in agreement with the other members here. We should not have two versions of FP. I know a few members here who are young, yet very mature. I can name two people over 30 who are not as mature as those younger members. Maturity is different from person to person and it has nothing to do with age.

At first I'm inclined to agree with the others and say this wouldn't work, but I really don't understand what your idea is. Can you provide an example of a potential layout for each "version" perhaps? What would younger members see and what would older members see? What if someone wanted to change to the other version? Could someone in group A see what is group B's section without changing groups? For example, if group A had the promotion directory, would that just be seen by group A people or would group B also get to see the ads?

This is it: age is but a number, maturity is everything.

We have some members who are older than I but are so much less mature. It would be extremely difficult to run and staff the less mature version of the forum because most, if not all of our upper leadership here on Forum Promotion fall into the mature section.

I like the idea, I just don't think it would work from a leadership perspective.

Hi folks,

There is no win or lose scenario expected with my initial query, just keen to hear people's feedback on the idea.

I completely agree that some of the very young member's comments I've read in past weeks, appear to deliver from what you'd expect 10 years + on their shoulders, so agree, that within reason, maturity has a wide spectrum from person to person.

I also agree that it's essential to keep a thriving community together for many reasons, so fully understand why people wouldn't want to see a brick wall between two groups of members.

If it "could" work, I clearly wouldn't expect two individual websites, especially with potential domain issues, representing the Forum Promotion brand. The softer approach would potentially see everyone access a general group of categories, where maybe, say Age Group A were configured to see one structure/categories and Age Group B, another.

Even if members could switch a board configuration on/off, to determine whether they see all posts/all age categories or not, in my opinion, this would be a soft approach to provide members with an option on what they want to view.

Of course, the majority of members (based on responses above) sound perfectly happy in one primary community, so it's simply one of those debates to hear preferences from both sides of the fence.

All the best,
Cal 🙂

I agree with the majority, this would be very hard to pull off and I don't think it would go to well in the long run.

That wouldnt really work. FP already hasnt been so active lately cutting the members in half would be a bad idea. By the way im wondering how old people think i am.
