Hello,

I am planning on going ahead with my idea of opening a free WordPress hosting site. This will be using the WordPress multisite because it is well supported and easier to manage. However, I am in need of a few ideas. Any good ones will receive some FP$ depending on the amount I have. I need ideas for:

- Name of the site
- Any "must have" plugins
- Any specific features wanted
- Any premium features

Thanks a bunch for your help.

Sorry if this sounds like a dumb question, but will it be a generic Word Press Multi-site that anyone with any theme can create a word press installation, or will it have a specific topic in mind?

Hi,

Can't think of a name right now..

As for 'must have' plugins, I would go with:

Akismet (for anti-spam)

Contact Form 7 (allows you to design & set contact forms)

Backup to Dropbox (backing up site incase of a crash)

Regards
Az

Any blog following the guidelines can be registered, it will be like wordpress.com. The name I have gone with is Full of Blogs as it sounds pretty cool.

Any other suggestions for plugins and features are welcome.

Yoast would be a good plugin to have, as it's pretty good for helping you out with your SEO. I would also recommend a caching software to ease up on how much bandwidth your host is using 🙂

Maybe a 'under construction' mode plugin would be good.

I believe there is one called Maintenance that does that.

If you allow users to put ads on their site, and ad inserter plugin would be useful. Most ad networks have their own plugin, so I would pick an ad company and require everyone to use that. Or you can put your own ads on their sites and make money like that.

bbPres is fun only if you haven't already tried phpbb or even better, mybb. It might be fun for users to be able to create their own forums, or you might need to use it as a support forum.

buddypress- You could have the unique selling point of allowing people to create social networks for their sports clubs or workplaces etc.

Using the XML Sitemap can potentially help out in bringing traffic to those who may be hosted by you.

Maybe call the blog host something like "ProBlogs - A Free Wordpress Blog Host"
