For those who already have experience with businesses, based on your experience, would you prefer to avail of a franchise or start your own business from scratch?
Franchises are good for big-budget projects, but starting your own business can have an equally large budget, depending on what you're doing. For instance, my relative wanted to open a deli with a franchise for cost reasons, but soon discovered that it cost more than his income for simple trademark access. Also, if you use a franchise, then you cannot keep your ideas. Any business strategies you make (i.e. McCafe with McDonald's) are the property of the franchise owner -- not you.
Starting your own business is troublesome mostly for all the involved development and such. If you don't know what you're doing, you're down a lot of cash.
