If someone's title says 'free FP' but they require you to sign up on a site, post somewhere, etc. is it truly free?
I say absolutely not.
What are your views?

The reason for this prompt is that currently there are two threads that I know of that claim to give Free FP, but require you to register/sign up/do something related to that kind of work.

No, I'd say not.

Free FP would be just simply posting in the offer thread and yoü give it to them. Not signing up for sites and everything.

^Exactly. However, I have met opposition on this matter with a certain member. I don't really understand why. It seems like a fault in logic, and way with words. (Saying this is their reasoning for feeling correct in their misleading title)

Well I reported the threads for misleading titles. I can be proud I guess as I did my part.
What's up ashi by the way, I remember doing exchanges with you!

It's not truly free if you have to do something to get it. That's my definition of "free" anyways. This has been an issue in the past. Some people think that if you aren't making an actual payment, it's free. I disagree because if you have to click a link, make posts, or whatever, that is the payment you are making.

Exactly my point 2787cmt!
Ashi, I was on the review team ages ago..Let's see, I'm a year out of highschool now and I was going into Sophomore year at the time.
So a good ol few years ago.

I used to go by sShare.

I don't say so, it may be rather easy, but if it's free they would directly give you the FP Cash to them.

I agree, to do something in order to receive something isn't free. If I told someone I would give them $10 and then when they came to get it I told them to wash my car; that is working for it and not free.

I don't think it's that big of a deal to get all worked up. Surely there are more important things in life than a "free FP" thread.

I don't think that anybody is real worked up here. Instead I think we're just having a legitimate discussion about a controversial matter currently present here at FP.

Surely there are. 🙂

Exactly my point; if you consider this as "controversial", then you need to step back and evaluate the more important things in life.

I'm only interjecting for legitimate reasons, not being the devil's advocate or anything.

And to answer the question, my view is that it's such a small matter, the fact that it might be misleading is so insignificant, that anyone who doesn't believe such an offer is genuinely free, should just close the tab or click back.

In other words, I don't mind those threads.

I think the issue here is that the thread starter and the op of this thread have a different interpretation of the word free Those free FP thread starters see the word free as meaning that it is free because you aren't required to pay for the FP through some form of currency and the OP sees the word free as being devoid of exerting any effort of any kind in order to receive the FP.

I don't see any deception here just confusion due to how the word free is interpreted. If you are confused on something then it's best to just simply ask a question so you know what's going on before calling someone's offer deceptive.

I don't really see much of an issue. It is more down to an individuals interpretation of the wording used. I see it quite like Bluezone in that free means it doesn't cost you anything in terms of money. We offer "Free Domains" in exchange for forum cash. They are free to the extent that it doesn't cost you any real money like it would if you were to pay for the domain directly from Namecheap.

I just don't like it when people post threads that say "Free FP" and then you have to do something to get the FP. Which means it's not free.
