Of course you can have free and premium together. For a theme to be premium, it has to be made from scratch and usually of high quality with beyond necessary features. Many designers go to an extra level with their theme, adding special sidebars, grid systems, adsense ready, seo ready etc., and give them away free, hence free premium.

In any case Google is your friend, I think you will have to dig deep, most sites are just copies of other theme sites, and the same themes appear over and over again, the important thing to look out for (especially with phpBB) is compatibility with the latest core code release.
Yeah Free and Premium online are opposite of eachother. I could get the free hosting package, or the premium hosting package. I could get the free software, or the premium software 😛 I think what you mean was free, good themes? Like they were paid for before but are now free?

I knew David would add a comment in here. But yeah premium usually means that it will need paying for although if you look on a MyBB theme database I'm sure you might find one that you like.
