I want to see everyone's thought about this free forum hosting service.

I would say that support wise they are not the greatest but I sort of enjoyed their service for a bit. I give it a 4/10. They were good for me but I use 000webhost.com now.

I have a forum on there i like it but some reason it wont add the site to yahoo or google search engines.

No negative numbers?!

1/10, most people here probably know why as well... -😉-

I used them once for a guild website on WoW, and I had to find a different place to run a forum since their uptime was horrible along with their support.

1/10... The only good thing about being with freeforums.org is it makes all the other bad hosts look not as bad -lol-

I gave them a 9. They are very reliable. Because they never slow down, and they provide quick responses to my questions. I don't like the ads, but other than that they are great!!

From an Ex-freeforums.org staff member's point of view I will strongly suggest everybody stays well away from FreeForums.org

Firstly, their servers are old and are bought from other forums hosts who have retired them to upgrade to newer ones. Their server #5 is made of recycled components and is very unstable. Another example of their server's incapability is when another former FreeForums.org staff member (Liam2705) managed to hack nameserver 1 and 3, and take them completely offline within a matter of minutes.

Reason 2 to stay well away from them. They cannot be trusted with personal information. If you buy Advanced hosting through them firstly they get paid something like $70, secondly they force the information from you to transfer your forum. A recent example of this is when a user who had bought advanced hosting only asked for the database...he did not want the complimentary skin transfer that they offer. The administrators made up some bullshit as to how giving databases instead of transferring the site was a breech of their policy. In the end, they requested the user's account details and held onto them. You may notice that nowhere on their site does it say they will not sell your Email addres...because they can't guarantee that. In a conversation I had with Jackal one evening, he had accidently leaked that Email addresses are sold onto third party sites to gain extra revenue to fund the hosting platform. I believe his quote was "we sell information to help fund our phpBB 3 platform".

Another reason? They lie. The main reason they added Ads to the network was to "help support hosting costs", although I ask you how are they struggling to afford hosting costs when they can afford costly items such as these:

..taken directly from the official FreeForums.org facebook page. A few months ago Liam2705 attempted a law suit against FreeForums.org for breeching the data protection act, however this fell through as no solid evidence could be produced. Once the FreeForums.org administrators found out about this, he was magically unbanned from the support forums - what does that show? What are freeforums hiding? Why do they tell so many lies?

Members of ForumPromotion, I have had over 4 months working on the inside of FreeForums.org. I have scooped u enough dirt to stop you using free forum hosts for the rest of your days. I would strongly encourage you to stay well clear of them and use another host.

There's nothing more to it.

Can you have a custom domain on freeforums?

That's right. Unfortunately I have lost contact with him since he resigned from PixelRaider.

Hmm.. he left in a bit of a hurry. He also deleted me off MSN.

Yes and No.

If you buy a domain name from them then you can use it on your forum, however if you move to advanced hosting or leave their network they charge you $6 for the domain transfer. Also, if you buy your own domain you have to pay them $6 to use it on their network...at least that's what the policy was when I was there. ~neutral~

Holy crap... I didn't know all this. I just knew that they sucked BIG time. But not this big.

So what forum hosts, do YOU recommend using, Murder he Wrote?

Getforum.org ?

Forumotion, I don't like the admin cp, its not standard. I feel powerless in a way.
