In the design world I've noticed two distinct styles of designing. There's the "fun" style, where the website is very carefree in design, the content is written in the same style, and the website just exudes this "fun" vibe. That's not saying it's not professional, but these sites usually value creativity and wit over the clean, cut-and-dry feel of other websites. As for the "corporate" category, there's not a lot of room for "fun" in these designs. They are very clean, and strongly exude the feel that this is a company you're reading about; mostly lacking in fun and carefree statements.
My question to you is: Which do you prefer, and what kind of designer are you?
I honestly prefer the Fun designs. They're just really cool to look at, and I have a great time with them. As for designing, I think they fall in to the same category. It's honestly more fun to design that way that corporate(sometimes) because you can just go nuts without caring 🙂
