I see, even with xf 2.0, there is no big changes have occurred. I would say the evolution of forum software's have stopped with vBulletin 3.8. Even today's modern day software have no drastic improvements when compared to vb3.8. Outsource they have simplified things, what will be the future of forum software's?

It seems like there would be a desire for improvement considering the sheer number of forums. For instance, look how many are listed on directories on FP.

to many. More then the members put together on fp

Honestly, I see the future of discussion boards/forums is going to go back to its roots. Early on, forums used to be really basic with all threads in one place and not necessarily looking really pretty. If we look at some of the largest sites which have taken over the roles that the forums of the styles were used to, you already see this. Go to sites like reddit, hackernews, etc. Yes, these are considered to be more of "social sharing" sites, but it many ways, they've taken over a role forums used to fill.

I agree that forum software development is slow going, but still making advances. Look at the upcoming MyBB version 2.0 release (https://community.mybb.com/forum-166.html) for example. It seems most forum softwares are moving to more modernization and a heavier focus on the content.

Alerts are a drastic improvement (especially on XenForo). Forums that don't have alerts turn me off. I like being notified of quotes & replies instead of manually checking back on all the threads I've replied to. Too much work.

I do agree with you but forums can't be social media sites right?

People have a idea but they don't have a skill of programming and developer have a skill but they lack of Idea or don't have a enough time.

If any developer have a idea then how they will give their valuable time to developing a forum software? I mean what about earnings? How they will afford time for developing a forum software without money?
