Forum looks good, but I'm shocked that you've only grown by 50 members within the year. (According to your statistics on first page to today's statistics)

That shows you how difficult it is to develop a gaming community with so many of them out there. It hurts to see it not growing, but I keep at it and never give up.

Keep up the good work GamerPerfection, the beginning is the most difficult. The more content you have on the forum the easier it is to grow it, due to the exponential nature of forum growth.

Thanks Fergal. The biggest mistake I made was right back when the site went live too early with too little content. Mistakes have been learned but that one can't easily be rectified. Anyway i'm still having fun which is the main thing.

I have learned that you have to go out on the games and promote it to the people. Network with people and expand it. It is tough, but there are ways of building it faster.

The time needed for getting on to games and networking with people is something I am short of.

The problems I find is that if people choose not to join because there's no-one posting then if everyone is like that then no-one will join.

If there's no one posting and there's no new content to discuss, then its kind of a proven fact that nobody will join. If that's the case it would look like a inactive board. You've got to promote it and build it up if you want people to signup on it.

You keep posting on here promoting it, so that's why I'm just trying to help out a little and give you some tips. Not everyone here is a gamer. But everyone on actual video games are, so if you promote it on there in the little time that you have available, I think you could expand your forum and get it going.

Why do you say if there's no new content to discuss? There is new content being added very often, in fact I put a load up today. I am adding content all the time. I could add a lot more, but I don't want my board to look like it's full of admin topics with no responses.

I appreciate the tips and advice, but you do happen to be one of my members that never bother coming back, yet you wouldn't know if there's new content or not because you don't visit.

You said, and I quote, "The problems I find is that if people choose not to join because there's no-one posting then if everyone is like that then no-one will join."

I misunderstood what you were saying. But you mention me for example, and I registered months ago, maybe a year or more ago, because of a post exchange I believe.

There's so many game forums out there, a few that I run myself. I would love to help you out and be active on your site, but I'm busy running sites of my own. That's why I said to go directly to the gamers and promote your site instead of just promoting it here and hoping that gamer's will see it and be active. We're all here trying to build our own sites. This place offers exchange opportunities to help boost your site to gain attention of those who your site should value the most.

Are you promoting it anywhere else?

Well it wasn't actually a post exchange as I've never spoken to you about an exchange. And this forum is the only place i've arranged exchanges. I think you just chose to join my site last year.

Anyway, I'm currently in Amsterdam with not much time for internet, and I decided to use this opportunity to see what happens on my site while i'm not there. It's been 3 days so far, will be 8 days when i get back, but so far there's been no activity.

I've pretty much decided to downgrade the website to a blog site, and replace vbulletin with Wordpress, and produce a wordpress design that is just like the current one. Then i'll just do blogs instead. That way I don't necessarily need members as anyone can see and post comments on my blogs.

I do promote it elsewhere. I promote it on forums that allow promotions, i put it in all of my forum signatures, I have it on all my avatars on forums, I advertise it through my youtube channel, i use twitter, facebook (not much FB though), my Xbox Gamertag is the name of my site and my profile promotes my website. I run competitions too to attract activity and help promote.

Anyway, I think a Wordpress blog site is the way forward for me now.
