Guys , I am now in need of ideas for my gaming forum . I launched it a week ago , turned out to be a big flop , so I am looking to re-create it . I will delete everything including the database and create it again from the scratch . So , I am looking for ideas . The forum name is "Gamers Connect" . Wanted it to be a Counter Strike specific forum , but no luck in that . Please provide me with some ideas , I dont want the domain to go waste , I just brought it a month ago.

Sorry I have to agree with james here, as giving up only after a week is not a good idea. It will take time to get your forum active, you cant expect that after 1 week you will be amazingly an active forum. You simply have to buckle down and do some hard yards.

Likewise. I used to give up after 2 weeks myself, and trust me, this is seriously not a good idea. If you're going to keep giving up like that, it's obvious you're not meant to run a forum. Forums don't get big over-night, and this is how I learned the hard way. No offense, but nobody is going to want to join a forum if a person keeps giving up on it.

We had a few slow months at the beginning of our venture but once we changed severs and added our promotion section to our forum for other sites for exposure, our membership and activity has gone through the roof and has not looked back.

I feel our forum is one to prove to you that if you stick with this the results are unyielding.

Agreed. 2008 sucked for me for forum owning, and that was because I was with Forumotion at the time, then, thanks to that, 2009 wasn't much better, because I couldn't seem to settle down to one host. I'd find a host I like and then I'd switch to another one 2 weeks later. Now it's 2010, I'm hosting on a friend's server, and I have never looked back since! Sure, we've been hacked/cracked twice, now, but hopefully by upping security and things we can do much better than what we were doing.

Well you forum looks half decent, but I have never and I repeat never saw a gaming forum that looks half decent, I can't basically say yours is a crap design as it does look good but I think something miore persuaing. Also try adding more gaming boards and preposting in every board about 10 topics each and have staff posting about. Basically that's all I can give but give it time to kick in and just advertise.

If people gave up within the first week we would never have Twitter,Facebook,Myspace =/ ooh and ForumPromotion.

So , what improvements do you recommend on the Graphics part ? Maybe change the theme and banner ? That's all I can do about changing the graphics since otherwise I would have to custom-design the skin myself , which is unfortunately not possible .

And everyone , thanks for those comments , will try to advertise it as much as possible . Hopefully , the forum catches attention . And if you have any more suggestions for improving the outlook and everything , please let me know .

Maybe having more games other then conter strike, or a section to talk about games in general, might be a good idea. You could even sub section it into game genres, like first person, racing, so on, or sub them into console types, Wii, PS3 so on.

Why do you wish to create this forum? I know the question may sound irrelevant, but if you don't have a good answer, then perhaps creating a forum in the first place is all just a waste of time. You have to do something that hasn't been done before and you need to have a real interest in the subject. If you create a forum just because you can, or because you "want to be admin", then it will fail.

Make it more unique. Host some contests to drive in interest for potential and current members.
