April 13, 2010 - Today Apple introduced the latest refresh to their MacBook Pro line, the highest tier boasts new Intel Core i5 and i7 processors, 4GBs of RAM which can be expanded to up to 8GBs, and new NVIDIA GPUs – the GeForce GT 330M and GeForce GT 320M -- which Apple claims are 80-percent more powerful than the previous GeForce 9400M chipset. With Valve's Steam digital games service coming to Apple's operating system later this year, what do the latest additions to the MacBook Pro series mean for gaming on Macs?

For it's most cost-effective model, the 13-inch variation, the company has maintained the Intel Core 2 Duo processor but added a new NVIDIA chipset made specifically for Apple; the GeForce GT 320M. Since this new chip is exclusive to the latest wave of MacBook Pros, there's no way of telling how it performs with games until proper benchmarks can be performed. Official word from Apple states that the GT 320M includes 48 processing cores, which allows it to run games up to 1.8 times faster than the previous chipset, the NVIDIA GeForce 9400M.
